About
PARTICIPA CORNWALL is a Community Interest Company (CIC) located on the Roseland Peninsula in West Cornwall. We aim is to assist local communities in Cornwall in answering the ‘call to action’ to tackle the climate crisis and biodiversity crisis. We work closely with our local partners to help build grassroots resilience and to find home-grown solutions to challenges and problems. All PARTICIPA’s profits are reinvested in the local community.

Anna Battersby
Anna has an MSc in Governance of Sustainability and over 20 years’ experience as a governance specialist working for institutions including the UK Government, the EU and the UN. Her academic research has focused on citizen engagement on climate action at the local level- particularly for Cornwall- and she is currently researching increased youth inclusion in decision-making. She has experience of managing both large multi-partner programmes and micro-projects, as well as providing strategic advice. Anna has held gender focal point and mainstreaming roles and is trained in diversity and inclusion. Living and working in Cornwall, she is passionate about helping her community address the challenges it faces, and currently supports the work of charities, schools and environment groups on the Roseland peninsula.
Martin Smith
Martin has worked in organisational development, learning and project management in both the private and public sector. He has specialised in developing and implementing leadership and management programmes and facilitating the successful transfer of knowledge into long-term and sustainable practices, supporting individuals, teams and organisations to think, feel and act inclusively. He is a professionally trained coach and mentor.
Nate Koehler
Nate brings expertise in operations, business development, programme design and implementation, research and partnership building. His MSc in sustainability governance and two roles with renewable energy organisations focused on developing place based, sustainable solutions at the community level. He has built and led project teams in the US, Nepal and EU in fields of poverty alleviation, gender equality, energy access, youth development, environmental education, stakeholder engagement and international fundraising.
Martin Battersby
Martin has worked for over 20 years in strategic communications and outreach for the British government, the UN and the EU, communicating on environmental issues for UNIDO, UNAMA, EUMM, Government Office South West and UK local government. He has experience engaging with difficult to reach groups, including through development of innovative public information products and via digital area engagement. He has a MA in European Politics and Governance and strong research and monitoring and evaluation skills.
